You can delete your Leeka account at any time. This page explains the two ways to do it and exactly what happens — what is removed and what is kept. You do not need to install or open the app, and you do not need to sign in, to read this page or to request deletion.
Two ways to delete your account
In the app (recommended)
Open Leeka, then go to Settings → Delete account → confirm. This is immediate and irreversible.
Without the app, by request
If you can’t or don’t want to use the in-app flow — for example, you have already uninstalled Leeka — email privacy@leeka.app from the address tied to your account and ask for deletion. These requests are handled manually.
What happens when you delete your account
Confirming deletion is irreversible. It clears your profile and stops the account being used, but it is pseudonymisation, not full erasure:
- If you used “Sign in with Apple”, that authorisation is revoked.
- Your profile information is cleared: your first and last name, profile photo, bio, gender, and city.
- Your push-notification tokens are retired so you stop receiving notifications.
- You are signed out and the account can no longer be used to sign back in. The action cannot be undone.
What is kept, and why
- Content you posted to a crew — posts, photos, comments, chat messages, and session votes — remains in that crew’s history. After your profile is cleared it shows as coming from a removed member and is no longer labelled with your name or photo, but the content itself is not deleted.
- The underlying account login record (including your email address) is retained rather than fully erased, and your content stays linked to an internal account identifier.
- The timestamped record of your Android ad-measurement decision — consent given or withdrawn — is kept in hidden form for 3 years, so that the basis on which your data was processed can be demonstrated (GDPR Art. 7(1)). It contains no name, no email address and no advertising identifier.
- Your medical and civil-liability insurance declarations are kept as timestamped flags — the date you made them, dissociated from your name and your photo — for 5 years after your account is deleted, so that legal claims can be established or defended.
- The evidence of your acceptance of the Terms of Service — the version accepted, the timestamp, and the IP address of the connection — is kept for 5 years after your account is deleted. The IP address is kept deliberately: it is part of what gives that record its value in the event of a dispute.
- The safety-notice display logs and the exceptional-conditions banner confirmation logs are kept for 10 years from the session concerned, which is the limitation period applicable to liability claims for personal injury.
- If you want data that this process does not remove to be erased, email privacy@leeka.app and it will be handled on request.
